About Isadora^®

Isadora is the award-winning, graphic programming environment for Macintosh and Windows that provides interactive control over digital media, with special emphasis on the real-time manipulation of digital video.

Because every performance or installation is unique, Isadora was designed not to be a "plug and play" program, but instead to offer building blocks that can be linked together in nearly unlimited ways, allowing you to follow your artistic impulse.

Isadora was initially created to realize the performances of Troika Ranch, a media intensive dance company co-directed by Isadora's creator, composer and media-artist Mark Coniglio. Isadora reflects over 20 years of practical experience with realtime interaction.

Easy

Isadora has been designed to smooth the learning curve for those new to the world of real-time interaction. The titles and values of every input and output are visible to the user and are quickly editable; this means the state of each module (referred to as actors in Isadora) is instantly clear and can be improvisationally changed by the user. Context sensitive help is available for all actors, saving a trip to the manual when you need to move quickly. Isadora is accompanied by a complete PDF manual that with several tutorials and example files to get you started. (We have also recently added series of online video tutorials to help you learn the program faster.)

Flexible

Isadora functionailty is limited only by your imagination. Over one-hundred building blocks can be connected in an almost unliited number of ways, allowing you to tailer how the media is presented or manipulated to your specific needs. Whether your goal is to simply organize and present video clips, or to create a textured interactive system that responds to the actions of the public or your performers, Isadora provides the tools you need to realize your inspiration.

Isadora's stability in performance has long been appreciated by its users. Isadora was created by a working artist for use in his own performances, and as such, we know that crashes in front of an audience are unacceptable. Powerful

Isadora provides a deep and powerful set of tools useful to the advanced designer. Notable features include the ability to output on up to six video projectors simultaneously on suitably equipped computers and a robust regimen of input and output prototcols that allow sensory input or control over external devices (MIDI, Serial [RS-232], TCP/IP, and Open Sound Control [OSC]).
